Bolland's two goals lead Blackhawks over Wild
Sep 25, 2006 - 2:27 AM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- David Bolland made his bid for a roster spot with the Chicago Blackhawks.The rookie center scored two power-play goals as the Blackhawks posted a 5-2 preseason victory over the Minnesota Wild.
Jeff Hamilton tallied on a power play and Radim Vrbata had two assists for the Blackhawks, who improved to 5-0 in exhibition play.
A second-round pick by Chicago in the 2004 draft, Bolland made it 4-1 halfway through the second period. The 20-year-old closed the scoring by tallying with 4:11 left in the closing session.
Goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 25 shots for the Blackhawks, who had 44 shots on goal. His counterpart, Manny Fernandez, turned away 39 shots.
Defenseman Kurtis Foster and Pavol Demitra - who played with the Los Angeles Kings last season - both scored power-play goals for Minnesota, which was outshot, 22-6, in the first period.
