Slumping Ducks look to break skid against Red Wings

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The top club in the NHL for most of the season, the Anaheim Ducks have fallen on hard times of late.

The Ducks look to snap their season-high four-game losing streak Sunday when they host the Detroit Red Wings.

The Ducks have not been getting pounded, as they have been outscored, 14-9, during their slump. However, they cannot be happy with their latest loss, a 4-3 home defeat to the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.

Teemu Selanne scored his 24th goal for the Ducks and has five goals in his last four games.

Anaheim has been a different club without injured star defenseman Chris Pronger, who suffered a broken foot in last Sunday's 4-3 loss at Minnesota. The blue-liner will be sidelined up to a month.

The Red Wings also have not been sharp lately, struggling defensively over their recent two-game skid.

After surrendering nine unanswered goals in a 9-4 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday, the Red Wings dropped a 4-2 decision to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

The Red Wings were the victim of bad luck in the loss, as Los Angeles scored the eventual game-winner when Michael Cammalleri's shot from a sharp angle deflected off Detroit defenseman Danny Markov's stick.
