Capitals aim for third staight victory, face lowly Flyers

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Before heading off on a long road trip, the Washington Capitals first must defend their home ice.

The Capitals aim for their third straight victory Tuesday when they host the lowly Philadelphia Flyers.

Alexander Semin scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead Washington to a 3-2 triumph over the Southeast Division rival Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday.

Goaltender Olaf Kolzig made 20 saves for the Capitals, who start a four-game road trip on Thursday.

R.J. Umberger tallied the lone goal for Philadelphia, which dropped a 6-1 decision to the Ottawa Senators on Sunday.

The Flyers, who have lost three straight and 13-of-16, were without Peter Forsberg for the third consecutive contest due to a groin injury.

Washington has outscored Philadelphia, 14-7, in winning all three meetings between the clubs this season.
