Ritchie snaps tie as Flames continue home dominance

Feb 4, 2007 - 5:55 AM CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- It turned out to be Byron Ritchie's turn to send Calgary Flames fans home with smiles on their faces.

Ritchie snapped a third-period tie and Alex Tanguay added a goal and an assist as the Flames extended their home winning streak to eight games with a 4-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

Calgary ended a four-game skid against Vancouver by rallying from a two-goal deficit and posting its 10th victory in 14 overall contests. The Canucks suffered the first regulation defeat in their last eight road games.

Ritchie netted his eighth goal of the season - and first in 10 games - at 8:39 of the third period by redirecting defenseman Mark Giordano's shot from the right faceoff circle past All-Star goaltender Roberto Luongo.

The Flames trailed, 2-0, before Daymond Langkow scored on a power play at 3:54 of the second period, firing a one-timer from the slot that beat Luongo to the glove side for his 22nd goal.

After setting up Langkow's tally, Tanguay tied the game with seven minutes remaining in the middle session, capitalizing on a 2-on-1 rush by lifting the puck inside the right goalpost.

Kristian Huselius netted his 23rd goal, captain Jarome Iginla collected two assists and All-Star netminder Miikka Kiprusoff made 25 saves for the Flames, who have won 19 of their last 21 at home.

Taylor Pyatt scored with 1:50 left, twin brothers Henrik and Daniel Sedin added tallies and Luongo stopped 38 shots for Vancouver, which fell to 12-2-3 in its last 17 contests.
