Red Wing aim for home-and-home sweep of Blue Jackets

DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings will try to complete a home-and-home sweep of the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Dominik Hasek recorded 31 saves and Tomas Holmstrom scored two goals in the Red Wings' 4-1 triumph over the Blue Jackets on Sunday.

Detroit has the most points in the league and is trying to become the first team since the 1976-78 Montreal Canadiens to win three straight Presidents' Trophies.

The schedule is favorable the rest of the way for Detroit, which closes the regular season with a home-and-home series with the lowly Chicago Blackhawks.

The Red Wings hold a two-point advantage over the Anaheim Ducks (47-20-12) for first place in the Western Conference.

Buffalo (50-21-7), the top team in the East, is one point behind the Red Wings, but has played one less game.

Columbus has dropped three straight.

Rick Nash has recorded a point in six of his last eight games for Columbus. Nash leads the team with 25 goals this season.
