Wild seek to win first game after losing two
Apr 15, 2007 - 3:14 PM Anaheim at Minnesota 8:00 pm EDT Western Conference Quarterfinals Ducks lead series, 2-0ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Wild hope a return home will help to turn the momentum in their Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Anaheim Ducks.
The Ducks won the first two games of the series at home.
Defenseman Francois Beauchemin tallied twice with the man advantage and Ryan Getzlaf added a goal and an assist in Anaheim's 3-2 victory in Game Two on Friday.
"We wanted to take advantage of home ice, and we did that," Beauchemin said. "We'll go out there and try to be more disciplined."
Marian Gaborik scored his 10th career playoff goal for the Wild in Game Two.
"You have to be sharp all 60 minutes, and I think we were," Minnesota's Mikko Koivu said. "We just have to find a way to create some chances."
Minnesota scored a franchise-record 49 power-play goals here in the regular season.
"I thought we played a great game," Wild coach Jacques Lemaire said. "It was just getting the power play to go a little better and staying out of the (penalty) box. The rest of the game was fine."
The Wild have dropped six consecutive postseason games against the Ducks, including a four-game sweep during the 2003 conference finals.
Minnesota's Brian Rolston finished the regular season with 64 points, but has been held off the scoresheet in the first two games of this series.
Ducks goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov recorded 30 saves in Game Two and is 8-4 with a 1.46 goals-against average and three shutouts in 13 career playoff appearances.
