Ducks go for series sweep in Minnesota
Apr 17, 2007 - 3:10 PM Anaheim at Minnesota 9:00 pm EDT Western Conference quarterfinals Anaheim leads series, 3-0ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- When it comes to playoff hockey, the Anaheim Ducks have the Minnesota Wild's number.
The Ducks can complete a four-game sweep of the Wild for the second time when the teams meet on Tuesday night.
In 2003, Anaheim swept the Wild en route to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Ducks have won seven straight playoff games against Minnesota.
Not only have the Wild dropped seven in a row to the Ducks, but they are just 2-7 in home playoff games. Not a good sign for a team that is trying to become only the third team in the history of the sport to win a playoff series after trailing three-games-to-none.
Andy McDonald and Rob Niedermayer scored goals in the Ducks' 2-1 victory here in Game Three on Sunday. Ilya Bryzgalov made 19 saves, losing his shutout bid with 39 seconds remaining.
Petteri Nummelin tallied for the Wild and Pierre-Marc Bouchard - who led the team in scoring against the Ducks during the regular season with six points - had an assist.
Minnesota left wing Brian Rolston, who led the team with 31 goals during the regular season, has been held scoreless in the first three games of the series.
Anaheim defensemen Francois Beauchemin and Chris Pronger, along with center Ryan Getzlaf, lead the team with three points apiece in the series. The Ducks have won all three games by one goal.
