Kings send Red Wings to fourth straight loss

Mar 10, 2011 - 4:55 AM Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Jonathan Quick made 28 saves to give the Los Angeles Kings a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown each had a goal for the Kings, who had dropped three of four coming in.

"Every point is huge now so to come into this building and get a win is a huge accomplishment," said Kopitar. "But we can't sit on this and we have a bunch of tough games ahead of us."

Darren Helm scored the lone goal for the Red Wings, who have lost a season- high four straight games. Jimmy Howard made 24 stops in the loss.

"We're not creating enough chances and not getting enough traffic in front of the net," said Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall. "We have to start getting the pucks in deep and putting more pressure on the defenders."

The Red Wings' only goal of the game came 5:57 in when Helm's shot from the right circle trickled between the pads of Quick.

The Kings tied the game 7:50 into the second when Kopitar jammed home a loose puck in front for his 21st goal of the year.

Skating on the power play later in the second, the Kings took the lead as Brown's snap-shot from the right point sailed past Howard with 5:17 left in the frame.

Quick stopped eight shots in the final period to help Los Angeles hang on for the win.
