Wild top Oilers

Apr 9, 2011 - 5:57 AM Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Jose Theodore made 28 saves as Minnesota clipped Edmonton, 3-1, at Rexall Place.

Brent Burns and Andrew Brunette tallied for the Wild, who snapped a three-game slide.

"We came out with emotion and want to end this season on a positive note," said Burns. "We're gonna compete till the last whistle blows ."

Teemu Hartikainen provided the lone offense for the Oilers, losers in two straight and 13 of 15.

Devan Dubnyk was the hard-luck loser with 24 stops.

"We wanted to end our home play on a bang and it didn't work out for us," said Edmonton forward Jordan Eberle. "Especially against these guys cause they had our number all year."

Burns' blast from the left circle during a 5-on-3 with 5 1/2 minutes left in the first period put the Wild on top.

Jared Spurgeon's man-advantage score at 1:25 of the second gave Minnesota a two-goal edge but Hartikainen's short-hander at 2:52 got the Oilers on the board.

Brunette hit the empty net with 49 seconds to play.

Game Notes

Minnesota swept all six meetings from Edmonton this season and has won nine of the last 11 matchups...In the first period alone, there were five fighting majors, a boarding major, two game misconducts and four regular misconducts...In all, 23 penalties resulted in 121 penalty minutes.
