Sedins, Luongo lead Canucks over Predators

Oct 21, 2011 - 6:04 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Daniel Sedin had a goal and two assists while Roberto Luongo stopped 25 shots to lead Vancouver to a 5-1 rout of Nashville.

Henrik Sedin had a goal and an assist while Ryan Kesler, Chris Higgins and Dale Weise each added a goal for the Canucks, who have won two of their last three.

"Out of all the games that he's played, I thought tonight was his best one," Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault said about Weise. "I liked that whole line with the speed element, and they were able to make some plays with the puck."

Matt Halischuk scored the lone goal for the Predators, who have dropped four straight. Pekka Rinne was pulled after letting up four goals on 16 shots in the first period. Anders Lindback stopped 23-of-24 shots the rest of the way.

"A couple of defenseman had some really bad reads, so we have to get that corrected," Nashville head coach Barry Trotz said.

A four-goal first period was more than Vancouver needed for the win.

Daniel Sedin got the first goal just 2:11 into the game when a flurry in front saw the puck come behind the net, where he banked it off the back of Rinne for his third goal of the season.

The Preds tied the game less than two minutes later when Halischuk threw a shot on net that hit off the backboards and followed it up by putting the puck past Luongo.

Vancouver got the lead back for good just 1:55 later when Henrik Sedin's blast from the right point sailed past Rinne for a power-play goal.

Weise scored his first career goal off a deflection with 7:58 left in the first while Higgins scored 1:26 later for a 4-1 lead.

Kesler scored on a one-timer from the left circle 6:06 into the third on the power play to make it a 5-1 game.
