Canadiens edge Bruins
Oct 28, 2011 - 4:29 AM Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Tomas Plekanec scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins.Erik Cole netted the other goal for the Canadians, who've won two straight after a six-game winless streak.
Carey Price stopped 29-of-30 shots for Montreal.
Patrice Bergeron tallied the lone goal for Boston, which dropped its second straight, and third in its last four.
Tim Thomas made 33 saves for the Bruins.
"We were in the game, one-goal game the whole time," Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara said. "A lot of chances, they didn't go in and they scored, obviously we tried to tie the game, but that's the way it is."
Bergeron was credited with a power-play goal 14:05 into the opening period when he lost the draw from the left circle. Plekanec won the faceoff, but backhanded the puck into his own net and between the legs of Price. The goal came just one second into the Bruins' power play.
Montreal tied the game midway through the second period when Cole tipped in a a shot from the left point by Jaroslav Spacek.
Plekanec followed up his initial wrister on net from the right point with a quick snap from the inner right circle, which got past Thomas to give Montreal the lead midway through the final period.

Montreal hosts Boston in the second game of a home-and-home series on Saturday.
