Sedin brothers help Canucks down Blackhawks
Nov 7, 2011 - 6:11 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Henrik and Daniel Sedin combined for seven points, as the Canucks scored five times on the power-play to upend the Blackhawks, 6-2, at United Center.Henrik Sedin had a goal and three assists, while Daniel added a goal and two helpers for Vancouver, which improved to 2-2 on its six-game road trip.
David Booth, Aaron Rome and Dan Hamhuis all scored with the man advantage, while Roberto Luongo made 38 saves to pick up the victory.
Corey Crawford gave up all six goals on 38 shots for Chicago, which dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season.
"Give them credit for making some nice plays on the power play, but I think they were results of what we did on several of them," Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville said.
Michael Frolik countered Booth's goal at the six-minute mark of the first with an innocuous wrister from the blue line that trickled through Luongo's pads with 7:03 remaining in the opening stanza.
Rome and Daniel Sedin, skating with an extra man, scored in the opening 4:40 of the second period. Marcus Kruger cut Chicago's deficit in half by poking in his own rebound over a sprawled-out Luongo with 4:53 left.
Jannik Hansen answered just 43 seconds later after Blackhawks defenseman Bryan Bickell inadvertently skated into Crawford and knocked the goaltender out of the play.
Hamhuis made it 5-2 two minutes after that with a slap shot at the top of the right circle, and Henrik Sedin capped his four-point night midway through the third with a backhander past Crawford.
"We played a great game," Luongo said. "Obviously the boys got up for this one. It was a big game for us."
