Enroth stands tall again as Sabres dominate Senators

Nov 12, 2011 - 6:56 AM Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Jhonas Enroth stopped 36 shots and stayed unbeaten this season as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Ottawa Senators, 5-1.

Derek Roy netted a goal and had two assists for the Sabres, winners of four straight. Enroth moved to 5-0-0 in six games.

Jordan Leopold, Ville Leino, Matt Ellis and Luke Adam also netted goals and Drew Stafford added three assists for Buffalo, which has defeated Ottawa six consecutive times.

"There was a lot better job with the puck, we supported it well, we played a smart efficient game," Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said.

Sergei Gonchar recorded the lone tally for the Senators, losers of five straight since their season-high, six-game winning stretch.

Craig Anderson started and let in two goals on six shots before being pulled in the first period. Alex Auld finished the game and stopped 12-of-15 shots.

The Sabres jumped on the Senators early with two goals in the first 2:25 and Anderson's night was done. .

"What can I say, left some garbage out front and they tapped it home, that's pretty much how my night went," Anderson said.

Stafford flew up the ice on the right wing and wristed a shot on net. Roy pounced on the loose puck in the slot and flicked it home for the first tally.

Ellis scored just 16 seconds later after Cody McCormick put a shot on net from the high point. Ellis jumped on the disc and put it home.

Gonchar made it a 2-1 game on a power-play tally, but Buffalo increased its advantage 10 minutes later.

Stafford waited patiently behind the net before finding Leopold with a backhand pass for a 3-1 lead.

After a scoreless second period, Adam lit the lamp four minutes into the third to make it 4-1. Tomas Vanek skated in and backhanded a pass into the slot from behind the net to Adam who wristed it into the top left corner.

Leino added the final tally 57 seconds later.

Game Notes

Ottawa hadn't lost five straight games since going 0-9-2 from January 14- February 9 of last season...Buffalo beat the Senators, 3-2, in a shootout last Saturday in Ottawa...Enroth is unbeaten in his last 13 decisions.
