Blackhawks down Flames

Nov 12, 2011 - 5:55 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Patrick Sharp dished out three assists and four different Blackhawks scored, as Chicago took down the Calgary Flames, 4-1, at United Center.

Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Viktor Stalberg and Patrick Kane all scored for Chicago, while Marian Hossa and Daniel Carcillo both had a pair of helpers in the win.

Ray Emery made 24 saves for the Blackhawks, who have won back-to-back games after dropping three straight.

"You want to be comfortable in net and I'm working on things to improve my game," said Emery. "It's early in the season still and I just have to stay focused."

Olli Jokinen netted the only goal, while Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 27 shots for the Flames, losers of three of their last four contests.

"We didn't get it done tonight and got sloppy late in the game," said Calgary head coach Brent Sutter. "We had our chances tonight, we just didn't take advantage of them."

Keith opened the scoring at 12:09 of the first period and Chicago stayed in control from there. A bad clearing attempt by Calgary was picked off in the neutral zone by Sharp, who raced down the right wing and blasted a shot from the top of the right circle that was stopped by Kiprusoff.

But the rebound came all the way out to Keith at the left point and the big defenseman slapped it past the Finnish netminder for a 1-0 lead.

Chicago extended its lead to 2-0 on the power play at 12:11 of the second period. With the Blackhawks set up in the offensive zone, Seabrook accepted a pass at the point from Hossa and blasted it through traffic in front and past a screened Kiprusoff.

Calgary got on the board at 10:50 of the third period when Jokinen parked himself in the slot off a faceoff win and accepted a pass from Mark Giordano before firing it past Emery to make it 2-1.

But the Blackhawks answered back at 16:49 of the third with some good work in the offensive zone. Stalberg picked up a loose puck on the right boards and shuffled it into the corner for Hossa. After making the pass, Stalberg went right to the net unchecked and Hossa found him in front for an easy tap-in and a 3-1 lead.

Kane cemented the Blackhawks victory with an empty-netter in the final seconds of regulation.

Game Notes

Friday marked Keith's 500th career regular season game...Chicago finished 1- for-4 with the man advantage, while the Flames went 0-for-1 on the power play...The Blackhawks will host the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, while Calgary will travel to Colorado to face the Avalanche on Saturday.
