Ott pushes Stars past Kings in OT

Nov 24, 2011 - 8:46 AM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Steve Ott netted the game-winner at 2:56 of overtime as Dallas rallied past Los Angeles, 3-2, at American Airlines Center.

Just prior to the deciding score, Mike Ribeiro took a hit which enabled Stephane Robidas to swoop in and collect the puck. He moved into the Kings zone and slid a pass to the left wing where Ott was able to tap it home.

Jamie Benn and Loui Eriksson scored third-period goals for the Stars, who have won two in a row after losing five straight.

Kari Lehtonen stopped 22-of-24 shots for the victory.

"We stuck with it," said Ott. "The game plan coming in was well taken care of for the whole 60 minutes. The unfortunate thing is we were down 2-0, but we stuck with it."

Mike Richards and Kevin Westgarth provided the offense for the Kings, who have lost two of three.

Jonathan Quick took the loss despite 35 saves.

Richards put the Kings on the board at the 4:53 mark of the second period when his shot from the left circle squeaked between Lehtonen's pads.

Westgarth doubled the advantage just 36 seconds later when he lifted a shot over Lehtonen's glove from the left circle.

Benn pulled the hosts within a goal at the 2:07 mark of the third period, then Eriksson came up with a score at 19:39.

Michael Ryder won a neutral-zone draw ahead to Benn, who broke into the LA zone. He waited until Eriksson caught up along the right wing, and dished to the reliable Finn for an easy goal.

Game Notes

Richards set a new career best with goals in five straight games...The last time an LA player accomplished the feat was Dustin Brown from January 17-31, 2009...Kings defenseman Drew Doughty was fined $2,500 but not suspended for his late-game cross-check against Blues forward T.J. Oshie in Tuesday's 3-2 win in St. Louis.
