Streaking Canucks host Blue Jackets

Nov 29, 2011 - 4:17 PM (Sports Network) - The Vancouver Canucks are back home and will put their four-game winning streak on the line tonight versus the Columbus Blue Jackets at Rogers Arena.

Vancouver will begin a four-game homestand Tuesday versus the Blue Jackets, Predators, Flames and Avalanche, and is 5-3-1 as the host this season. The Canucks made it four wins in a row with Saturday's 3-2 win over San Jose, as Cory Schneider made 43 saves for Vancouver, which won for the seventh time in nine tries (7-2-0).

Manny Malhotra, Henrik Sedin and Andrew Alberts all scored in the win. The Canucks won all three games on the road trip through Colorado, Phoenix and San Jose. Sedin has 10 points in his last nine games.

"It's probably the best game we've played in the last five and it's the one we happened to lose," Canucks coach Todd McLellan said. "There are some things that showed up in tonight's game that we've been working on the last couple days."

Schneider has allowed three goals on the current winning streak and has filled in nicely for Roberto Luongo, who's been dealing with an upper body issue and will most likely see the bench again tonight.

Columbus will begin a four-game road trip Tuesday against Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Montreal, and owns a 1-7-2 mark as the visitor this season.

The Blue Jackets had won three of four games before suffering a 2-1 home loss versus St. Louis on Sunday. David Backes' power-play goal in the third period was the difference, while Derek Dorsett scored for Columbus and Curtis Sanford stopped 27 shots in defeat.

"We had a lot of chances to score and we didn't," said Columbus head coach Scott Arniel. "They certainly capitalized on a couple mistakes we made."

Columbus is 3-1-2 in the last six games and Rick Nash, Jeff Carter, and James Wisniewski all have five points in their last five games. The Blue Jackets have notched points in five of their previous six contests.

After starting the season 0-7-0 on the road, Columbus has registered points in the last three road games with a 1-0-2 mark in that stretch. Jackets forward Vinny Prospal is one point shy of 700 for his career and left wing R.J. Umberger is three games away from 500.

Vancouver defeated the Blue Jackets, 1-0, on Oct. 10 this season on the road and has won eight straight and nine of the last 10 matchups between the two teams. Columbus is winless in its last three games at the Canucks.
