Lehtonen, Stars shut out Ducks

Jan 25, 2012 - 6:11 AM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves for his first shutout of the season to help the Dallas Stars take a 1-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Alex Goligoski scored the only goal of the game for the Stars, who avoided what would have been a season-worst sixth straight loss.

"We've made no excuses so far and we'll have none coming back," said Dallas head coach Glen Gulutzan. "We'll be healed and ready to go. February will be our telling month."

Jonas Hiller gave up the one goal on 16 shots in the loss for the Ducks, who had a season-high five-game winning streak stopped.

"We just didn't create enough chances tonight," said Anaheim forward Corey Perry. "We weren't able to sustain any pressure in their end."

Both teams head into the All-Star break on the outside of the Western Conference playoff chase as the Stars are 25-21-2 and the Ducks are 18-23-7.

The only goal in the game came with 3:19 to play in the first period. Loui Eriksson came into the Anaheim end through the left side and left a drop pass at the point for Mike Ribeiro, who circled around the left circle and backhanded a pass back to the point. From there, Goligoski blasted a one-timer on net that tipped off of Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler and went into the net.

Lehtonen made 10 stops in the first, nine in the second and eight in the third for the shutout.
