Blackhawks, Blues face off after suffering tough defeats
Oct 21, 2006 - 2:33 PM St Louis (2-3-2) at Chicago (4-3-0) 8:30 pm EDTCHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues will be trying to recover from devastating losses.
The Blackhawks on Saturday will take on the Blues at home with both teams playing on back-to-back nights.
Chicago lost, 5-4, to the Dallas Stars on Friday after the Stars tallied four third-period goals. The Blackhawks are now 0-13-2 against Dallas since March 18, 2002.
Blackhawks winger Martin Havlat, who entered Friday night's game against Dallas leading the NHL in scoring with 13 points, had a six-game scoring streak snapped when he failed to record a point against the Stars.
Radim Vrbata collected three assists for Chicago, which failed to match last season's high of three straight victories.
St. Louis' loss was just as heartbreaking. The Vancouver Canucks scored on a slap shot from the point as time expired in overtime to help them post a 3-2 victory over the Blues.
St. Louis was 2-for-9 with the man advantage.
No one has shouted yet.
