Fraser powers Bruins past Senators
Nov 2, 2014 - 2:45 AM Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Fraser's two quick second-period goals helped lead the Boston Bruins to a 4-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.Brad Marchand and Dennis Seidenberg both scored, and Carl Soderberg tallied two assists for Boston, which was coming off a 3-2 overtime win at Buffalo on Thursday.
"He certainly didn't miss his opportunity tonight," Bruins head coach Claude Julien said of Fraser. "I thought the effort was really good."
Tuukka Rask turned aside 27 shots in the win.
Mark Stone and Mika Zibanejad both lit the lamp, and Robin Lehner made 26 saves for the Senators, who have dropped two straight games and four of their last five.
"There were stretches of the game that I thought we played well," said Stone. "We weren't structurally sound tonight."
Fraser put the Bruins ahead with two goals in a 1:28 span. He wristed home a rebound from the right circle over a diving Lehner to break the tie at 11:14. Soderberg sent a stretch pass to Fraser, who raced up the left side and snapped a shot over the glove of Lehner for a 3-1 lead.
Seidenberg pounced on a rebound at the top of the left circle and ripped a slap shot into the net for a 4-1 game 2:08 into the third.
Zibanejad forced a turnover from Milan Lucic, received a pass from Alex Chiasson and roofed a backhander over Rask to cap the scoring with 4:17 to play.
Patrice Bergeron won a faceoff back to Marchand, who wristed a shot past Lehner from the left circle with 1:06 remaining in the opening stanza.
Ottawa needed just 38 seconds to tie the game. Stone raced in on a 2-on-1 with Mike Hoffman, deked around Rask and banked a shot into the net off the netminder's skate.

Bruins forward David Krejci was a late scratch ... Ottawa defenseman Eric Gryba played in his 100th NHL game ... Marchand has three goals in his past two games.
