Sundin, Maple Leafs face Sabres in Northeast Division clash

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- Mats Sundin is showing no signs slowing down.

The 36-year-old Sundin and the Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Buffalo Sabres in a Northeast Division contest Monday.

A 16-year veteran, Sundin became the franchise's all-time leading scorer in Thursday's 8-1 win over the New York Islanders. The Swedish center has scored at least one point in every game and is tied for second in the league with 10 points.

On Monday, Sundin will try to help the Maple Leafs rebound from Saturday's 6-4 setback to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

But that will not be easy against Buffalo, which has outscored its opponents by a margin of 13-3 over its past two games.

Derek Roy and Jaroslav Spacek both tallied twice Saturday in a 7-3 rout of the Washington Capitals - a win which came two days after Thursday's 6-0 shutout of the Atlanta Thrashers.

Buffalo is compensating for the loss of centers Chris Drury and Daniel Briere to free agency by getting stellar play from its defensemen. In addition to the solid play from Spacek, fellow blue-liner Brian Campbell added four assists in Saturday's win.

The Sabres, who have won 10 of the last 14 meetings, may have success against struggling Maple Leafs goaltender Vesa Toskala, who is 1-3-0 with a 4.48 goals-against average this season.
