Thrashers aim for first win of the season

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers will try to earn their first win of the season when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.

After winning a franchise-record 43 games and making their first playoff appearance last season, Atlanta remains the only club in the league without a victory.

Most recently, the Thrashers dropped a 6-5 loss to the New Jersey Devils when goaltender Kari Lehtonen gave up the go-ahead tally with 27 seconds remaining on Saturday.

"It's not disheartening," Thrashers captain Bobby Holik said. "We let the game get away from us because we stopped playing. It's one thing to lose a game when you try to make plays, but after the first 30 minutes, we stopped controlling the puck."

The Flyers, meanwhile, have won their last two games, including Saturday's 3-1 triumph over the New York Islanders.

Jeff Carter, Sami Kapanen and Jason Smith all found the back of net for Philadelphia, which has outscored opponents 11-3 in its last two outings.

Philadelphia is 18-4-3 against Atlanta and has won six straight meeting in the series since November 18, 2005.
