Rangers take struggling offense to Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- After spending more than $80 million on Scott Gomez and Chris Drury, the New York Rangers expected to be doing better than ranked dead-last in the league in goals scored.

The Rangers will hope to turn things around without Martin Straka when they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday.

Straka, who is tied for the team lead with two goals and is a former member of the Penguins, suffered a broken right index finger in Saturday's 1-0 shootout loss to Boston.

The Rangers, who have won only once in their last six games, have scored just 13 goals this season.

Gomez and Drury have combined for three goals and six assists, and Jaromir Jagr - also a former member of the Penguins - leads the team with eight points.

New York will need all the scoring it can get as it has to deal with reigning MVP Sidney Crosby.

Crosby, who led the league with 120 points last season, has registered two goals and seven assists on the season.

The 20-year-old Canadian will have to deal with Henrik Lundquist in net for the Rangers, who comes into the game with a 2.14 goals-against average and is 7-3 against the Penguins in his career.

Pittsburgh went 5-1-2 against the Rangers last season, and is 4-0-1 against them in their last five contests at home.
