Predators looking to snap six-game losing streak

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Nashville Predators hope that a return to their home ice can help end a dreadful losing streak.

The Predators have lost six games in a row - their longest losing streak since 2002 - and will look to turn things around when they take on the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday.

After winning their first two games of the season by a combined score of 9-1, the Predators have given up 29 goals in their last six games while only scoring nine times.

Nashville lost to Los Angeles, 6-0, on Tuesday and were outscored, 12-1, in their last three games on the road.

Jason Arnott leads the team with three goals and seven points. Chris Mason has started all eight games in net for Nashville, while compiling a 3.73 goals-against average.

After firing Bob Hartley after losing the first six games of the season, Don Waddell has led the Thrashers to wins in two of their last three games.

Ilya Kovalchuk leads Atlanta with five goals and four assists and Johan Hedberg has a 2-3 record in net after taking over for Kari Lehtonen, who is out indefinitely with a groin injury.

The Thrashers are ranked second-to-last in the league on the power play as well as the penalty kill.
