Canadiens look to continue strong play against Maple Leafs
Nov 3, 2007 - 1:43 PM Toronto (5-6-3) at Montreal (7-2-3) 7:00 pm EDTMONTREAL (Ticker) - The Montreal Canadiens look for their sixth win in their last seven contests when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Following a shootout loss to the Atlanta Thrashers, the Canadiens routed the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-2, in their last contest on Thursday. Alex Kovalev and Christopher Higgins led Montreal in the victory, both logging power play goals.
The Canadiens, who are just three points behind the red-hot Ottawa Senators (10-1-0) in the Northeast Division, can attribute their recent success to the power play unit.
Montreal is tops in the NHL with a 30.9 percent conversion rate with the man advantage and has scored a power-play goal in 11 of 13 games this season.
The Maple Leafs struggled on the road against the Canadiens last season, posting a 1-3-0 record at the Bell Centre. Toronto has lost two straight and has been outscored 10-3 in the process.
