Oilers, Flames try to snap four-game losing streaks

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers both try to snap a four-game losing streak on Saturday when they meet for the second time this season.

The Flames have scored more than one goal just once in their last four games while allowing the opposition at least three tallies.

Calgary scored two goals in the third period in their last game, but could not overcome three second-period goals by the Vancouver Canucks, suffering a 3-2 setback on Thursday.

Despite the slide, the Flames are just five points behind the Northwest Division co-leaders Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild and are ninth in the Western Conference.

The Oilers find themselves in the exact same situation as the Flames. Edmonton dropped their fourth straight against the Colorado Avalanche in a shootout on Wednesday as Dwayne Roloson failed to stop Marek Svatos, who won the game as the fourth skater in the shootout.

Roloson made 35 saves in the contest but suffered his first overtime loss of the season, falling to 3-8-1 in 2007-08. The 38-year-old veteran has an inflated 3.14 goals-against average with a .894 save percentage.
