Lecavalier, Lightning look to end road woes
Dec 11, 2007 - 2:48 PM Tampa Bay (13-14-3) at Montreal (14-11-4) 7:30 pm ESTMONTREAL (Ticker) -- In order for Vincent Lecavalier and the Tampa Bay Lightning to become a championship caliber team again, they are going to have to find a way to win on the road.
Lecavalier hopes to help the Lightning snap a five-game road losing streak when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.
Tampa Bay suffered a 6-1 setback at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday, making them just 2-11-1 away from the St. Pete Forum this season.
The Lightning's only two road wins came in back-to-back games against the Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals on November 8 and 10.
Lecavalier, an early candidate for the Hart Trophy this season, has 14 goals and 31 points in 16 games at home, while registering just five tallies and nine assists in 14 road contests.
The Lightning may be without center Brad Richards, who sustained an injury to his left knee in Monday's loss and did not return to the game.
Richards, who has missed just two games - both because of a death in the family - in his six-year career, has 10 goals and 28 points this season.
The Canadiens have struggled at home this season and have dropped five straight contests at the Bell Centre, including Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
