Stars look to keep rolling against Blues

Nov 1, 2006 - 4:38 PM St Louis (3-4-3) at Dallas (9-2-0) 8:30 pm EST

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars have been one of the hottest teams to start the season. They look to keep the momentum going when they host the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday.

The Stars, who have won four of their last five, come off a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

Dallas goaltender Mike Smith turned aside 32 shots in only his second career start, and Jeff Halpern scored the game-winning goal with just 3:44 left in the third period.

Phillippe Boucher and Stu Barnes scored the other Dallas goals while Matthew Barnaby had two assists.

The Blues try to rebound from a wild 6-5 shootout loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. St. Louis' Lee Stempniak and Keith Tkachuk were denied in the shootout.

Tkachuk had a goal and two assists and Stempniak added a goal and an assist in regulation time while Curtis Sanford only stopped 28-of-33 shots.

Dallas, which has six straight home wins over St. Louis, finishes a four-game homestand and then plays six of its next seven on the road.
