High-scoring Lightning set to face lowly Capitals

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) - The Tampa Bay Lightning can light up the scoreboard with the best. It's stopping the other team that has been a problem recently.

The Lightning will try to put it all together when they host the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

Tampa Bay suffered an embarrassing 9-6 loss to the Calgary Flames on Thursday, continually allowing breakaway chances. Top goaltender Johan Holmqvist was pulled after allowing four goals on just six shots and has allowed at least three goals in each of his last three games.

Offensively, the Lightning are operating in top gear. Vincent Lecavalier leads the NHL with 49 points and Martin St. Louis ranks eighth with 39.

The Capitals continue to have problems putting wins together despite the presence of one of the most dynamic scorers in the game, Alex Ovechkin.

The third-year superstar banged home his 23rd goal of the season in a 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, and he is currently riding a seven-game point streak. Washington had a three-game winning streak snapped with the loss to Buffalo.

Tampa Bay has won two of three meetings between the teams this season, with St. Louis scoring in each game.
