Sabres, Senators aim to end losing streaks

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) - The Buffalo Sabres look to end a four-game losing streak when they host the Ottawa Senators on Friday.

The Sabres were on the verge of ending their drought during their last game on Tuesday, but couldn't overcome Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins in a shootout - suffering a 2-1 setback in the outdoor Winter Classic.

It was Buffalo's second straight loss to the Penguins after losing, 2-0, on Saturday in the first game of a home-and-home series.

Ryan Miller, who made 47 saves during the two losses, has allowed nine goals in regulation over the past four games. He hasn't received much help from the offense however, as the Sabres have managed just five goals during their losing streak.

The Senators enter the game on a losing streak of their own, suffering back-to-back losses in a home-and-home series with the Washington Capitals.

Ottawa, which averages an NHL-best 3.54 goals a game, couldn't outscore the Capitals in the first game on Saturday as they suffered an 8-6 setback.

The Senators surrendered six tallies in the second game of the series, losing by three goals to Washington on Tuesday.

Ottawa, which sits atop the Eastern Conference standings with 54 points this season, has lost four of its last seven games.
