Sabres face Devils hoping to end six-game skid

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) - The New Jersey Devils look to win their fifth straight game at home on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres.

Included in that streak was a 2-1 shootout victory over the Sabres on December 28 in the teams' only previous meeting this season.

It was the seventh in a 10-game stretch for goaltender Martin Brodeur, who saved all three of Buffalo's attempts in the shootout. Brodeur is 21-13-2 on the season with a 2.17 goals-against average.

Kevin Weekes was in goal for the Devils in their last game, a 4-3 loss at Boston on Saturday. New Jersey outshot the Bruins, 20-1, in the last period but only scored once on Boston's Tim Thomas.

The Sabres come in having lost six consecutive games for the first time since the 2005-06 season. Buffalo dropped a 5-2 decision at Atlanta on Sunday in the opener of a three-game road trip.

Buffalo, which has made the Eastern Conference finals each of the last two years, is only one point ahead of last-place Toronto in the Northeast Division.

The Sabres have scored only 10 goals in the six losses.
