Injury-plagued Red Wings hope to stop slide vs. Sabres

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- With their top three defensemen out of the lineup, the Detroit Red Wings have struggled.

The Red Wings will try to end a four-game winless streak when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday.

Detroit still owns the NHL's best record but has gone just 1-8-2 over its previous 11 games. They will have to try and end their slide without blue-liners Chris Chelios, Brian Rafalski and captain Nicklas Lidstrom, who are all out with injuries.

Henrik Zetterberg, who leads the club with 36 goals and 75 points this season, scored a goal and set up another Friday, but the Red Wings still suffered a 3-2 setback to the San Jose Sharks.

The Sabres are coming off a 6-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. They currently sit two points back of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Buffalo has yielded 10 goals over the two games it has played since trading All-Star defenseman Brian Campbell to San Jose.
