Canadiens look to continue domination of Bruins

Mar 20, 2008 - 1:32 PM Montreal (40-24-10) at Boston (37-27-9) 7:00 pm EDT

BOSTON (Ticker) - The Montreal Canadiens go for their 10th straight win against the rival Boston Bruins on Thursday.

Montreal has won the first six meetings this season, outscoring the Bruins, 32-12, including an 8-2 victory in the most recent contest on January 22.

Both teams are in the middle of a playoff chase as Montreal leads the Northeast Division by three points over Ottawa (40-26-7) and is one point behind New Jersey (42-24-7) for first place in the Eastern Conference.

Boston is currently in seventh in the East, one point ahead of Philadelphia (36-28-10) and just two points clear of the Buffalo Sabres (35-28-11).

The Canadiens have gone 2-2-1 in their last five games, and are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to St. Louis on Tuesday.

Boston has struggled since a season-high six-game winning streak, going 2-4-3 in its last nine games.

The Bruins have scored just 12 goals over that span, including a 2-1 shootout loss to Washington on Sunday. Chuck Kobasew scored the lone goal for his 22nd of the season.

Marc Savard is second in the league with 63 assists and leads Boston with 77 points, but the center has gone without a point over his last three games. Savard has just three assists in his last eight games and has not scored since February 19.

Things may not get any better considering Montreal netminder Carey Price is 3-0-0 with a 2.34 goals-against average against the Bruins this season.
