Predators look to keep playoff hopes alive vs. Blackhawks
Mar 22, 2008 - 10:24 AM Chicago (35-32-7) at Nashville (36-31-8) 3:00 pm EDTNASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) - With the top eight teams in the Western Conference beginning to separate themselves from the competition, the Nashville Predators are running out of time to get involved in the postseason.
The Predators will attempt to keep their playoff hopes alive when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.
Nashville is four points behind the Colorado Avalanche (39-30-6) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West with seven games remaining.
The Predators, however, have struggled putting pucks in the net, scoring just 13 goals while going 1-5-0 in their last six games.
The Blackhawks are hanging by a thread in the playoff race as well - three points behind Nashville and seven points shy of Colorado with eight games to play.
They posted a 5-0 win over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday and have won two of their last three games. Chicago scored 11 goals in the two victories.
Nikolai Khabibulin, who missed nearly a month with back spasms, made 25 saves to earn his second shutout of the season.
The Blackhawks have dominated the series this season, going 4-1-1 while outscoring Nashville 19-7 in the four wins.
