Toskala, Maple Leafs continue playoff pursuit

TORONTO (Ticker) - Vesa Toskala and the Toronto Maple Leafs will look to continue their improbable playoff push Tuesday when they face one of the teams they are chasing.

The Maple Leafs look for their fourth consecutive victory when they host the Boston Bruins in the front end of a home-and-home series.

Toronto, which enters this contest off three straight road wins, has climbed to within four points of Boston for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Maple Leafs, however, still have to pass at least four teams to get into the postseason and have just six games to do it.

Toskala has been a major factor in Toronto's recent run, winning five of its previous six contests. The 30-year-old netminder, who has started the last 27 games, was 3-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average this past week.

The Bruins, who will host the Maple Leafs on Thursday, are winless in their previous three games and are 1-3-3 over their last seven. They suffered a 3-2 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
