Resurgent Blackhawks look to stay in postseason chase

CHICAGO (Ticker) - The Chicago Blackhawks have rebounded from a tough stretch and are back in the postseason hunt.

Chicago aims to move closer to the Western Conference's eighth and final playoff spot on Sunday when it hosts the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Attempting to reach the postseason for the first time since 2001-02, the Blackhawks are four points behind Vancouver for the Western Conference's final playoff berth with four games remaining.

All-Star defenseman Duncan Keith and Craig Adams each had a shorthanded goal and an assist as the Blackhawks posted a 4-3 win over St. Louis on Saturday.

"This keeps us alive with a sliver of hope," said Adams of Saturday's win.

One reason for hope is the stellar play of goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin, who stopped 31 shots on Saturday, and is 6-1-2 with two shutouts and a 1.69 goals-against average in his last 10 games.

Chicago will look to avenge a 4-0 loss in Columbus on Wednesday. The Blackhawks managed just 17 shots.

Columbus, which is coming off a 2-0 loss to Nashville on Friday, is seven points out of the final playoff spot in the West. The Blue Jackets need a lot of help, as three teams are ahead of them in the standings.

The Blue Jackets lead the season series, 4-3-0.
