Predators trying nail down playoff spot

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) - Holding a slim lead for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, the Nashville Predators host the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.

Nashville (40-31-9) enters the contest with 89 points, one ahead of the Vancouver Canucks (39-31-10).

While both teams have two games remaining, Nashville has the apparent edge when it comes to scheduling.

The club faces the 14th-place Blues before they visit the Chicago Blackhawks, who currently occupy 11th place in the West.

Conversely, the Canucks host the 10th-place Edmonton Oilers before facing the Calgary Flames (41-29-10), who are currently in seventh place in the West.

The Predators escaped with two points in the first game of a home-and-home series with the Blues on Tuesday, forging a 4-3 overtime victory.

Rich Peverley scored the game-winning goal in overtime as Nashville rallied from a 3-0 deficit to pick up their fourth win in the last five games.

Andy McDonald, Jamal Mayers and David Perron all notched tallies in the first period on Tuesday for the Blues, who fell to 1-3-2 in their last six games.
