Hurricanes gun for fourth straight triumph
Nov 21, 2006 - 1:57 PM Carolina (12-7-3) at NY Rangers (11-9-1) 7:00 pm ESTNEW YORK (Ticker) - The Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes go for their fourth straight victory when they visit the New York Rangers on Tuesday.
The Hurricanes' streak started with a 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Wednesday and continued with a 4-1 triumph over Washington on Friday.
On Saturday, the Hurricanes downed the Dallas Stars, 5-4, to extend the streak to three. Eric Staal had a hat trick in the victory.
Staal leads the Hurricanes with 13 goals while Rod Brind'Amour has an eight-game point streak, with six goals and seven assists in that span.
The Rangers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
Brendan Shanahan extended his point streak to seven games with a goal and an assist. He has four tallies and five assists in those contests.
Jaromir Jagr scored his 600th career goal for the Rangers, joining Shanahan as one of 16 players who have reached the mark.
