Senators can continue recent dominance of Lightning

Nov 26, 2006 - 3:20 PM Ottawa (11-11-1) at Tampa Bay (12-10-1) 5:00 pm EST

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- After a disappointing start, the Ottawa Senators are gradually looking more like the team that topped the Eastern Conference in points last season.

The Senators hope to extend their winning streak to a season-high five games and continue their one-sided rivalry with the Tampa Bay Lightning when the teams meet Sunday for the first time this season.

Ottawa has won all four regular-season encounters against Tampa Bay in each of the past two seasons. This will be their first matchup since the Senators eliminated the Lightning in five games in last spring's playoff series.

Dany Heatley recorded his second hat trick of the season and set up Jason Spezza for the go-ahead goal at 7:48 of the third period to lead Ottawa in Friday's 6-4 victory over the Florida Panthers.

After dropping two contests in a three-game road swing, Tampa Bay returned home and defeated the Atlanta Thrashers for the third time in four encounters with Friday's 3-2 overtime triumph.

Martin St. Louis scored his 14th goal in overtime and Dan Boyle netted a pair of power-play tallies for the Lightning, who have split their 12 home contests.

The teams will square off again in Ottawa on Saturday.
