Anderson, Panthers look to extend season-long win streak
Dec 6, 2008 - 11:26 AM Florida (11-11-3) at Boston (17-4-4), 7:30 pm ESTSUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- Craig Anderson has been the force behind the Florida Panthers' resurgence.
The Panthers will likely send Anderson to the crease once again as they aim for their season-best fourth straight victory against the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
Anderson made 45 saves Thursday to lead the Panthers to a 2-1 triumph over the Buffalo Sabres. The 26-year-old Anderson, who has started each of the last four games, was vulnerable only during a 5-on-3 advantage for Buffalo.
"He was great and especially when we needed him the most," Florida coach Peter DeBoer said of Anderson. "You go with the guy with the hot hand, and he's been all that and more."
"They were throwing everything they had at me, and then some," Anderson said. "The guys did a terrific job of cleaning up the rebounds."
Gregory Campbell opened the scoring with 4:18 left in the second period and set up defenseman Keith Ballard's goal 35 seconds later for the Panthers, who improved to 4-0-2 in their last six.
Anderson's mission to continue the win streak will not be easy against the Bruins, who own the Eastern Conference's best record and highest-scoring offense.
Boston is also sporting a three-game winning streak after posting a 3-1 triumph over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.
