Bruins look to extend home winning streak to 12 games
Dec 18, 2008 - 11:23 AM Toronto (12-12-6) at Boston (21-5-4), 7:00 pm ESTBOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins aren't just beating teams at home. They are punishing any opponent that dares to enter the TD Banknorth Garden.
The Bruins will aim for their 12th consecutive home victory Thursday when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are the last team to leave Boston with a win.
Over their remarkable winning streak at the TD Banknorth Garden, the Bruins have outscored their opponents by a 55-23 margin. They have beaten their last 10 visitors by more than one goal.
Phil Kessel continued his hot streak Saturday, extending his point streak to 15 games with a goal and assist during a 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers. Kessel leads Boston with 19 goals.
Since the Maple Leafs topped the Bruins, 4-2, on October 23 in Boston's only regulation home loss of the campaign, Toronto has lost to its Northeast Division foe twice.
The Maple Leafs will bring some momentum into this contest, winning their last three games - including a 3-2 shootout victory over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.
The Bruins, who will host the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday before heading out on a five-game road trip, have won seven of their last eight contests overall.
