Flyers set to visit lowly Lightning

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Locked in a three-way battle atop the Atlantic Division, the Philadelphia Flyers hope a two-game stop in the "Sunshine State" can help them move ahead.

The Flyers will attempt to bounce back from a loss to their cross-state rival when they meet the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.

With Tuesday's 4-2 setback to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia dropped a point behind the New York Rangers in the division race. The New Jersey Devils are just three points out of the top spot and the Penguins are not out of it yet, sitting 10 points back.

The Flyers, who will visit the Florida Panthers on Friday before a four-day break, are 4-1-2 over their last seven contests.

The Lightning failed to pick up their third consecutive victory Tuesday, suffering a 7-1 rout against the San Jose Sharks.

Tampa Bay enters this five-game homestand with rumors swirling around captain Vincent Lecavalier and his future with the team. The Lightning are clearly in rebuilding mode and would draw plenty of interest for the former Maurice Richard Trophy winner.

The 28-year-old Lecavalier leads the team with 17 goals this season.
