Maple Leafs hope to snap four-game losing skid

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Carolina Hurricanes are both looking to end recent streaks of futility.

The Maple Leafs will aim to end a four-game losing slide Thursday, when they visit the struggling Hurricanes.

Toronto is 2-8-0 over its previous 10 contests. The Maple Leafs were shut out for the second time this season on Tuesday, suffering a 2-0 setback to the Nashville Predators.

Special teams has been a major concern for Toronto, which is 0-for-8 on the man advantage over its last two games. The Maple Leafs have also surrendered at least one power-play goal in each of the previous eight contests.

The Hurricanes are hoping a return home can help them snap a three-game skid. Carolina did not pick up a point over its three-game road swing, getting outscored by a combined margin of 14-4.

Defenseman Joe Corvo netted a power-play goal Tuesday, but the Hurricanes were crushed, 5-1, by the Ottawa Senators.

After this visit from Toronto, Carolina will have to go back on the road for a four-game trip.
