Blackhawks searching for success against lowly Blues
Jan 17, 2009 - 11:29 AM Chicago (24-10-8) at St. Louis (17-23-3) 8:30 p.m. ESTST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks have enjoyed plenty of success this season. However, none of it has come against the lowly St. Louis Blues.
After having an eight-game home win streak snapped, the Blackhawks look for success on the road when they meet the Blues on Saturday.
Aiming to end a five-season playoff drought, Chicago is fourth in the Western Conference with 56 points, two behind the third-place Calgary Flames.
Despite their standing, the Blackhawks have dropped both meetings with the Blues this season. Chicago endured a 4-3 shootout loss on October 18 and suffered an overtime setback by the same score at the United Center November 14.
Following back-to-back wins, the Blackhawks fell to 14-2-5 at home this season during a 3-2 overtime loss to the New York Rangers on Friday.
St. Louis, which is last in the West with 37 points, forged a 5-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, ending a two-game slide.
The win came without All-Star left wing Keith Tkachuk St. Louis Blues, who was scratched due to an apparent head injury.
Tkachuk was hurt late in the second period of Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. The 36-year-old appeared to injure his jaw in a collision with Andre Roy. He remained down for a short period of time after being hurt before being helped off the ice.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Thursday that Tkachuk, who has 14 goals and 15 assists in 42 games this season, did not suffer a concussion. He is expected to play against Chicago.
