Kane hopes to snap funk as Blackhawks face Wild
Jan 19, 2009 - 1:51 PM Minnesota (22-19-3) at Chicago (25-10-8), 8:00 p.m. ESTCHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks are not exactly stumbling into the All-Star break. Patrick Kane, however, is a different story.
Slated to play in his first All-Star Game later in the month, Kane hopes to snap out of an offensive funk when the Blackhawks host the Minnesota Wild on Monday.
A native of Buffalo, New York, the 20-year-old Kane has recorded just one point in his last nine contests and has not netted a goal since December 20.
Still, the reigning Calder Trophy winner has 16 tallies and 26 assists in 41 games this season. He is also on pace to marginally surpass his totals of last season, when he notched 21 goals and 51 assists.
The Blackhawks, who have won three of their last four, are coming off a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
Chicago's success in January has not compared to that enjoyed during December, when it won nine straight and lost just once in regulation.
Captain Jonathan Toews, who will join Kane on Eastern Conference All-Star roster in Montreal, had his two-game points streak halted against St. Louis, but still has registered four goals and eight points in his last nine contests.
Minnesota had its two-game winning run snapped with a 3-0 setback against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.
Andrew Brunette played in his NHL-leading 497th consecutive game but hurt his knee in the second period. His status for this contest is uncertain.
