Blackhawks start long road trip in Anaheim
Jan 28, 2009 - 11:30 AM Chicago (25-12-8) at Anaheim (24-21-5), 10:00 pm ESTANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks have not had much success in California recently.
The Blackhawks will try to change that trend Wednesday, when they start a season-long, eight-game road trip against the Anaheim Ducks.
Chicago, which lost its previous two contests before the All-Star break, owns a 5-17-6 record at Anaheim, Los Angeles and San Jose over the last five seasons. The Blackhawks have just one win in their previous nine road games against the Ducks.
After visiting Anaheim, Chicago will stay in the West for the next five games, facing the Kings, Sharks, Oilers, Flames and Canucks before concluding the trip with the Thrashers and Blues.
The Blackhawks will play just one home contest before February 22, facing 11 road dates over that stretch.
Chris Kunitz and Corey Perry scored two goals apiece as the Ducks tallied four times in the second period Tuesday en route to a 7-3 triumph over the Phoenix Coyotes.
Bobby Ryan extended his goal-scoring streak to four games and Rob Niedermayer and Travis Moen also scored for Anaheim, which won for just the third time in nine games.
