Maple Leafs look to build off convincing victory

TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs earned a much-needed victory, while the Pittsburgh Penguins were robbed of one in their most recent contest.

After winning for just the second time in their last 10 games, the Maple Leafs look to build off that success when facing the struggling Penguins on Saturday.

Jason Blake scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period and added two assists as the Maple Leafs snapped a four-game losing streak Thursday with a 7-4 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.

Dominic Moore netted two goals and set up another while Alexei Ponikarovsky, Niklas Hagman, defenseman Ian White and Nikolai Kulemin collected two assists apiece for the Maple Leafs, who had lost eight of their previous nine contests.

Though Toronto is stationed toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, the Penguins still have hope of negating a shoddy first half.

Pittsburgh failed to notch its second straight win on Friday, when the New Jersey Devils posted a 4-3 overtime victory at home.

Captain Sidney Crosby and Maxime Talbot scored in a 20-second span midway through the first period and All-Star Evgeni Malkin netted his 100th career goal, but the Penguins lost for the second time in three contests.
