Surging Stars look to continue winning streak
Feb 3, 2009 - 3:41 PM Calgary (30-15-4) at Dallas (23-18-7) 8:30 p.m. ESTDALLAS (Ticker) -- Marty Turco and the Dallas Stars look to continue their longest winning streak of the season Tuesday when they host the Calgary Flames.
Thanks to the recent resurgence of Turco, the Stars are on a four-game winning streak - their longest since a seven-game run from January 29-February 11, 2008.
Turco has spearheaded Dallas' surge, posting a .948 save percentage over the last four games. Two days after recording his first career regular-season win at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena, Turco made 35 saves in Saturday's 7-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
James Neal scored two goals and added an assist to pace the Stars, who have scored 17 goals during the winning streak.
Dallas could be hard-pressed to duplicate that offensive output Tuesday against the Flames, who have allowed a total of 28 goals over their last 10 games. Calgary, which currently is first in the Northwest Division, has gone 7-3-0 over that span.
The Flames will look to rebound from Monday's 4-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, who peppered Calgary goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff with 42 shots.
Jarome Iginla scored his 20th goal of the season for the Flames, who lost their only previous meeting with the Stars this season - a 3-1 decision in Dallas on December 2.
