Avalanche visit Blues after long homestand
Feb 7, 2009 - 12:49 PM Colorado (25-26-1) at St Louis (21-24-6), 8:30 pm ESTST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- For the first time in over three weeks, the Colorado Avalanche have to hit the road.
Following an unsuccessful eight-game homestand, the Avalanche will square off against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
Colorado finished its longest homestand of the season with a 3-5-0 record, salvaging the last two games with back-to-back wins over the Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars on Monday and Thursday, respectively.
Cody McLeod snapped a tie midway through the third period and Peter Budaj made 22 saves Thursday as the Avalanche halted the Dallas Stars' five-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory.
All-Star Milan Hejduk recorded a goal and an assist and Marek Svatos also scored for Colorado, which suffered a 5-2 loss to the Blues on January 15 in its last contest away from the Pepsi Center.
The Blues are coming off a 2-1 shootout loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.
Jay McClement netted a shorthanded goal and Chris Mason turned aside 22 shots for St. Louis, which fell to 5-1-3 in its last nine games.
