Canucks host Blackhawks looking to build off win

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks' prolonged losing streak is over. Now, they must begin recovering from it.

The Canucks host the Chicago Blackhawks in a battle of Western Conference foes on Saturday.

Alex Burrows scored on a breakaway with 82 seconds remaining in the third period as the Canucks snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.

The tally sealed the win, ending an 0-5-3 overall slide for Vancouver, which had also lost each of its last nine games at General Motors Place.

Mats Sundin, defenseman Kevin Bieksa and Ryan Kesler also scored and All-Star Roberto Luongo turned aside 24 shots to earn his first win in six starts since returning from a groin injury on January 15.

Luongo was 0-2-3 with a .875 save percentage and 3.70 goals-against average in his first five games back from suffering the ailment on November 22.

Chicago, which is 4-1-0 on its current season-high eight-game trek, is seeking its fourth straight win overall.

The Blackhawks have outscored opponents, 12-5, during their run, and their most prominent offensive effort came in a 5-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Thursday. Chicago is 11-0 against teams from Canada this season.
