Bruins host Flyers seeking fifth straight victory

BOSTON (Ticker) -- Tim Thomas continues to validate his All-Star selection.

Seeking their fifth straight victory, Thomas and the Boston Bruins host the Philadelphia Flyers in a battle of Eastern Conference foes on Saturday.

The Bruins have earned at least one point in 37 of their last 42 games, and last won five in a row when they were riding a season-high, 10-game winning streak from December 12-January 1.

Boston, which is coming off a 4-3 shootout victory over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, has weathered the storm of netminder Manny Fernandez suffering from a lingering back injury.

Fernandez, who regularly rotated with Thomas as the starting netminder before being sidelined, has not played since a 6-4 win over Ottawa on January 8. Thomas has started 11 of 12 games since.

Named to his second straight All-Star Game, Thomas has surrendered a total of four tallies in his last four contests.

Meanwhile, the Flyers look to snap a two-game losing streak after suffering a 3-1 loss to Boston on Thursday.

In that contest, David Krejci and Dennis Wideman scored 35 seconds apart and Thomas made 14 of his 25 saves in the third period.

Philadelphia has netted just one goal in its two games since defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning, 6-1, on January 30.
